iPhone4G_2 FaceTime feature allows users to perform multitasking and is integrated with the Faceplant application. Yes, it’s no longer just a simple two-way video calling attribute.

Designed by 12seconds and Rally Up, this application enables users with a list of contacts online for video chatting after signing in the Faceplant account. The tool finds people from the contact list that are using the same device and are registered with this service. The online friends show up in orange while those offline are displayed in grey color.

Users can send or receive video messages to the offline friends as well. The application gives a push notification to users whenever they receive a video message. This application automatically adds new friends as soon as any contact registers the app. Users can also chat with many friends at one point of time by not even informing them thanks to the video conferencing feature. Besides, the application also enables a privacy mode that hinders disturbance.

The Faceplant application will soon hit the App store in some time.

LG’s Application Store launched last summer for Windows Mobile devices, and today announced that on top of a facelift to their site, they’re spreading to Android before the end of the year. lg-application-store

I’m still a little confused why anyone other than the platform developer would make an app store and expect it to fly, especially in Android’s case, where Google has done a pretty good job populating and managing the Market. The only situation I could imagine is that LG’s app store would offer some space for carriers to push their own wares, but even then, I’m not sure if it’s being used in that capacity at all, since the LG Application Store has yet to be localized for the U.S., Canada, or anywhere in Europe. At best, the LG Application store would allow developers to pump out apps to multiple platforms (Windows Mobile, Android, and feature phones), at the same time, so long as they’re cool with solely targeting LG handsets.

As far as selection goes, the LG Application Store boasts “over 3,000″ apps, which is really a pittance considering the official Android Market is more than 70,000. More power to LG for taking some control of their hardware, but I think they’re going to have a hard time competing with Google for the eyes and fingertips of app-hunters.

Karbonn K25 dual SIM QWERTY phone for Rs. 4,400

Posted by webmaster Monday, July 26, 2010 0 comments

Karbonn Mobiles has introduced the Karbonn K25 phone, which it describes as an “attractively priced dual SIM QWERTY phone featuring an optical trackpad”; a phone that is “loaded with social networking applications” and has “eye-catching features coupled with a stylish design”.Karbonn-K25-India-Price
Priced at Rs. 4,400, the Karbonn K25 has the following specifications: dual SIM (GSM type), FM radio, hi-fidelity sound with equaliser, 2MP camera, video recording, expandable microSD memory up to 8GB, and Bluetooth v2.0 with A2DP. It comes embedded with such social networking applications as Facebook, Twitter, Opera Mini, Yahoo Messenger and MSN. Priced reasonable and providing a range of features, the Karbonn K25 will prove quite a temptation for many.

The Nokia N76 is a multimedia 3G Smartphone made by Nokia. It was introduced at the Las Vegas CES 2007 in January 2007 and was launched on 5 May 2007 with a sales price of 390 EUR. It is advertised as "The computer done beautifully" and as a "multimedia computer". It is also the slimmest Nseries phone to date, following many trends such as mirrored exterior screen and Motorola RAZR metal keypad. Hardware-wise the N76 bases off a platform by Freescale, being a first of kind in the family of “cheap” 3G smartphones. In fact the difference between the OMAP2420 and this Freescale CPU, is the lack of a graphics accelerator.
The phone was originally released without stereo bluetooth, but a later firmware update v30.0.015 adds A2DP and AVRCP bluetooth profiles. There are also numerous stability improvements and bug fixes as well as new features including the inclusion of Nokia Maps and a new search feature in active standby.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 Mini Pro

Xperia™ X10 mini pro. A full slide-out QWERTY keyboard and intuitive touch screen right at your fingertips.Sony Ericsson is getting better at adhering to smartphone release deadlines and thus it is time for us to review another round of chubby cuteness. Released at the end of June as promised, the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro is essentially the X10 mini in terms of interface, but with a slide-out keyboard. That being the case, we won't dwell on the software, but rather on its design and performance.

Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro is a long name for such a small device, but still, the addition of “pro” brings a full slide-out QWERTY keyboard to the table, so we'll give it a pass. A physical keyboard usually adds a little bulk and heft to a device, and the Sony Ericsson Xperia X10 mini pro is no exception. It's grown from 3.3” (83 mm) to 3.5” (90 mm) in length, but the difference in thickness with the X10 mini is negligible, which actually means thick enough already. At 4.2oz (120gr) it weighs a bit more than the Samsung Galaxy S, which has a 4” screen.

Apple reveals new Antenna page iPhone 4 reception

Posted by webmaster Sunday, July 18, 2010 0 comments

Apple press conference yesterday at Cupertino to introduce a dedicated page on its official website for dealing with this reception issue. Over the past few days, the mobile terrain has been flooded with tidbits that hint at how holding the Apple iPhone 4 in a particular manner could lead to a signal problem

As if the existing antenna disaster that’s been harrowing users ever since the phone was released isn’t enough, the company puts up a comparison of the iPhone 4’s signal strength to that of other smartphones. The page suggests that gripping the device in an incorrect fashion could lead to signal attenuation, hence the reception problem.

According to Apple, the phone isn’t the only one to face such a problem. Virtually all smartphone antennas may have this issue if the device is held in a way that it blocks signal. The composition and density of the human hand may also influence the attenuation on the basis of the material. A black colored strip located in the lower left corner of the band is claimed to be the downside of the phone’s signal wear down.

Apple has tested the iPhone 4’s signal issues in comparison with that of the Samsung Omnia II, HTC Droid Eris, BlackBerry Bold 9700 and its very own iPhone 3GS. Video comparisons on the page should help users figure out the signal loss problem.

The new Apple page provides tips on how to hold the iPhone in a way that it doesn’t obstruct signal along with some more details. While we’re not sure if it will be of any help, the company is also offering a full refund for those still dissatisfied with the device, provided they return it within 30 days of purchase.

Apple Inc has called a surprise press conference for Friday to talk about the iPhone 4, as the company continues to deal with fallout from reported reception problems on its popular smartphone.
Apple spokesperson Steve Dowling said late on Wednesday the company would hold the event at 10 a.m. on Friday at its headquarters in Cupertino, California. The-Apple-Wallpaper-apple-602491_1024_768

He declined to provide further details, or to say whether the event will address the signal-strength problems that some people have reported having with the iPhone 4 when the device is held in a certain way.

Apple has faced mounting criticism from analysts and consumers over its handling of complaints about the reception issues on the newest iPhone, which was launched last month.

Analysts say Apple has created a public relations headache for itself by appearing to dismiss or ignore the problem, allowing a minor issue to be turned into headline news.

Although most analysts believe a recall of the device is unlikely, a growing chorus have urged Apple to resolve the matter, perhaps by offering free iPhone cases, which appear to solve the problem.

The iPhone 4 has been an unqualified hit with consumers, and sales have so far been unaffected by the controversy, analysts say. Apple sold 1.7 million units in its first three days to become the fastest selling device in the company''s history.

But scattered reports cropped up early on from users who complained about decreased signal strength when they touched certain parts of the phone.

The company has been sued by several consumers over the matter. Still, the problem does not appear to be widespread.

Earlier this month, Apple issued a statement, saying the problem was caused by a software glitch that overstates network signal strength. But some found that explanation wanting.

Many who follow the company believe the problem is with the hardware itself. A steel band runs along the outside of the iPhone 4 and acts as the antenna.

The influential publication Consumer Reports said on Monday it could not recommend the iPhone 4 to buyers because of problems with its signal-strength. It has called on Apple to provide a free fix to iPhone 4 buyers.

Shares of Apple closed up 0.4% at $252.73 on Nasdaq on Wednesday.
