MTS launches new smartphones

MTS, the mobile telephony services brand of Sistema Shyam TeleServices Ltd. (SSTL), on Monday launched three Internet-enabled smartphones, promising true 3G experience. It also announced attractive tariff plans for voice and data users, besides limited period free download facility. mts-get-nearer

After unveiling the phones, priced between Rs.4,999 and Rs.13,500 and targeted at college-going and young professionals, SSTL President and CEO Vsevolod Rozanov said: “Enabled with state-of-the-art futuristic technology platform, the new range of smartphones support high quality voice and Internet-enabled data services with best of tariff plans, ”

Mr. Rozanov further said the new range of handsets provided direct access to as much as 15 social networking sites, besides offering fast Internet connectivity with speeds up to 3.1 Mbps, which the company had been offering on data cards.

With the launch of these smart phones, MTS now had extended the high speed mobile broadband connectivity to smartphones also. MTS would provide 20 GB free for first two months for every subscriber of these devices, as an inaugural offer, he added. All new MTS smartphones are available with bundled offers, offering limited and unlimited tariff plans ranging from Rs.192 to Rs.1,099, keeping in mind the usage patterns of varied subscribers.

On expansion plans, Mr. Rozanov said the company would add three more circles by the end of 2010, to take the total number of circles to 15. “We have a pan-India licence and we will gradually roll out services in all the States. We are fast expanding our base across the country by setting up infrastructure,” he added.

SSTL, a joint venture between Russia's Sistema and India's Shyam Group, with the former holding 74 per pent stake.
